Hiring: Regional Co-ordinator (Southern Ontario)

The Community Housing Management Network (The Network) is recruiting to fill a full-time position (40 hours per week) as a Regional Co-ordinator in the Western municipalities and surrounding areas of Southern Ontario.

Reporting to the Operations Manager and Chief Executive Officer, the Regional Co-ordinator will have a portfolio of multiple co-operative housing sites, and will be responsible for supervising and providing support to on-site staff. The Regional Co-ordinator will work with the co-operative’s board of directors and members, occasionally. This is a hybrid position; travel and evening work is required.

Who we are:

The Community Housing Management Network (The Network) was established in 2009 to fill property management service gaps in the co-operative and non-profit housing sector. We provide services to co-operatives to suit their individual needs. We work closely with the Board of Directors and the membership to ensure the co-op’s goals are met on a daily, monthly, and annual basis.

Our services focus on managing the finances, meeting legal requirements, working with maintenance staff to keep properties in good repair, keeping units full and supporting good governance.

Wage: $58,000 - $63,000/year depending on experience. This is a full-time position at 40 hours per week.

The successful applicant will:

  • have 2 or more years experience in residential property management, experience in non-profit or co-op housing is necessary

  • have a working knowledge of legislation including the RTA (Resident Tenancy Act), HSA (Housing Services Act), Co-operatives Act etc.

  • have a strong understanding of financial statements, operating and capital budgets

  • have excellent interpersonal and problem-solving skills

  • have effective oral and written communication skills

  • strong ability to organize and prioritize tasks while meeting deadlines

  • be able to work independently

  • have a proven ability to supervise, discipline and co-ordinate with staff and contractors

  • have a good knowledge of Microsoft Office, QuickBooks, and virtual meeting platforms

  • have experience working with volunteers and a board of directors

Responsibilities of Position:

  • Develop annual operating and capital budgets for various properties that align with their goals and financial position

  • Ensures properties are adequately staffed, by reviewing resumes and conducting interviews

  • Lead annual staff reviews and develop staff improvement plans, conduct management reviews with the Board of directors on an annual basis

  • Respond to staff and member inquiries or complaints in a professional and timely manner

  • Assist staff to ensure sites are compliant with legislation (Co-op Act, By-laws, RTA, HSA – as applicable)

  • Oversee the planning, co-ordination and execution of capital projects

  • Facilitate member engagement activities and support committees to execute activities

  • Review monthly Board packages and attend monthly meetings (as needed), and semi-annual members meeting.

  • Attend weekly senior staff briefings, to discuss site deadlines and staff performance

  • Assist with funding applications and subsidy calculations

  • Ensure that site staff are meeting the needs of the board and members

  • Ensure that site staff are meeting required deadlines
